Koala & Kangaroos and "Fourex"

Friday, October 9th

I could only sleep till 2:00 a.m. - Why? I have no idea...so I ended up getting out of bed & watching the sun rise over Brisbane. Candis and I are staying in a rustic B&B in Brookfield which is about 15 minutes East of Brisbae. We wanted to find a place where we could rest and just be. There is an incredible wrap-around porch - which is where I spend a lot of my time.

Harold, the B&B caretaker, made a hue Australian breakfast for us this morning...with eggs, toast, bacon, fried mushrooms & tomatoes, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Yummmmmm...

Both of us really wanted to see koalas and kangaroos up close - se we went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This place is the one of the oldest and largest places that cares for koalas. The take care of 133 koalas, as well as kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, dingos and more. The koalas are beautiful - they look incredibly sweet...I watched a mom with a baby for the longest time...so gentle. I also got to pet a kangaroo and Candisheld a koala. We both really enjoyed the experience.

We had tried to go to the Victoria Bitters brewery yesterday...it was supposedly right off the interstate, but when we got off the exit...there were no signs. We had no idea where to go to get there. Never found it. So today we decided to go to a rival beer brewery - the "Fourex" beer. There were only 2 other guys on the tour with us, so we were able to ask more questions and our guide made it more personable. After the tour, you get to sample 4 of their beers, so the four of us sat around and talked for about an hour.

Roee is from Israel and is spending months exploring Aussie and New Zealand before heads to University. He just completed his tour with the Israel Military. Simon is from Ireland andhe basically travels for life and works when he has to. He has an Australia work visa for 6 months and then will be here exploring for another year. Yep. It was a fascinating conversation. I hope to keep up with their travels over facebook.

I basically spent the rest of the evening struggling to stay awake past 8 p.m. because of my lack of sleep the past two nights.

I miss lots of peoples tonight...
Praying.
